Cozy Country Wedding at a Private Estate

A bride lays her head in her groom's lap while on wooden pews at a country wedding.

Remember the story of the city mouse and the country mouse? Well, this here marriage pairs a country mouse and a country mouse. There’s no city mouse in this relationship. So when it was time to plan the wedding, nobody had a doubt this would be a straight country wedding.

Erin and Jeremy are the sort of couple that puts you at ease from the get-go. They love to have fun, and they love to take you along in that fun—preferably in a diesel truck, probably while wearing cowboy boots.

Speaking of fun, I saw that spark back when Erin was Maid of Honor in a wedding we photographed a couple years ago. I noticed it again when tailing these two across the golden foothills of the Sierra Nevadas during their epic engagement session. It was crazy to realize just how well-matched these two are! Their easy smiles and playfulness are the stuff of legend, and they make the sort of sweetness that helps keep a relationship strong through the tough times. And as it turned out, tough times struck just a week before the wedding when Erin’s brother passed away unexpectedly.

This devastated the family. I’m sure they wondered how could there be room for the joy of a wedding in the middle of such great sadness.

And yet Erin and Jeremy continued on toward their wedding day with every intention of somehow rejoicing in the midst of grief. In the end, their country wedding on a dear friend’s Shingle Springs estate was as moving a tribute to family as I’ve ever seen. Take a look…

Erin and Jeremy, your celebration was one of the most thoughtful and detail-packed weddings I’ve been to. And what’s more, the way you wove family and fun all throughout the day was inspirational. For all those moments when the tears were tinged with true sadness, there were so many other points where the laughter was rich, the dancing was whole-hearted, and the smiles were ear-to-ear. It’s plain to see that yours truly is a family where “love always perseveres”. And that encourages the rest of us to love in that same way.

Congratulations to you both on the wild and wonderful frontier ahead of you!
