Jerilyn and Mark first met back in the nineties, over two full decades before. And after all sorts of life and adventure together it was time for an even greater adventure. This was their wedding day, and it was all happening at Sacramento’s Antiquité Maison Privée.
I had never met this dynamic duo before the wedding day, but just a few minutes with them gave me the sense that their relationship had been seasoned. Time, determination, grace, and plenty of world travelling had made theirs a strong friendship. Their clear kindness, patience and directness were the sort that come from a long walk together in the same direction. In other words, I’m a fan.
Some get married as they are running high on the novelty of young love. These two seemed to have stoked the fires of young love to endure through many years of life together. This warm summer Saturday was the day that they would finally make their two lives into one. And I had the privilege of capturing memories of that day as the wedding unfolded before me.
Take a look to see how it played out…
I’d driven past Antiquité Maison Privée in midtown Sacramento countless times, but today it was the destination.
It would seem I had come to the right place.
The cookies and sweets had been laid out with care, in hopes that…
…the groom soon would be there.
The warm Saturday afternoon saw the guests wait until the last-minute to take their seats outdoors.
Meanwhile, someone had to get this guy looking his best for the big show!
Mark was all smiles—all ready to make this wedding happen.
At last the intimate crowd was ushered out to the Antiquité Maison Privée courtyard.
And then came the bride.
The first look.
Everyone was in just the right spot.
Their years of knowing each other and growing into love translated to deep-seated vows.
The kiss during the ceremony just wasn’t enough.
Jerilyn and a few of her faithful friends soaking in the joy.
The groom was flying pretty high himself.
A tender moment alone before stepping into their reception.
The Antiquité Maison Privée was a classy, cozy space, just packed with eclectic style.
The two split up to greet their wedding guests before the meal…
The room was bursting with life and love.
Long-time friend and law enforcement chaplain Mindy thanked the Lord for the union, and for the coming meal.
The aforementioned meal. And thankfully, these signs helped each one sit at their particular side of the table.
Photographic proof of Jerilyn and Mark’s world travels adorned the walls of the Antiquité Maison Privée.
Classic films like Casablance and The Sting played silently on a giant screen.
A little toast, a little roast…
…and they took it all in stride.
Mark connected with friends while I caught my breath outside.
Cakes like this are made for cutting. And for eating.
Mark’s aim and Jerilyn’s clean face proved that chivalry’s not dead.
Closing out the night in style.
Here’s to decades more of life and laughter as husband and wife, Jerilyn and Mark. Congratulations on a wonderful wedding day!
