Microwedding: From Fremont to Coyote Hills

Intimate wedding at Coyote Hills Regional Park

Ever noticed how truly generous souls draw us in like a magnet? If you know Katy and Bryan, you get it. And what’s more, you’ve felt it, because being around them feels like a gigantic hug. It’s no wonder then that family, friends and loved ones came together in clever and creative ways to make their microwedding one to remember. From Katy’s family home in Fremont, to the picturesque Coyote Hills Regional Park, their intimate wedding overflowed with humor, heart, and celebration.

During their engagement session months before, Katy and Bryan shared their plans for a sprawling party with all the people they loved most–and that’s a lengthy list! You see, Katy pours herself into the children at her Montessori school, while chef Bryan prepares his food passionately for his guests. Through their years of cross-country friendship and then dating, they’ve enfolded so many into their warm world. To know them is to love them. But as with so many of the best laid plans for 2020, Katy and Bryan’s wedding had to take on a totally different shape in light of COVID-19 precautions. I’m sure there were some tears shed, but they rolled up their sleeves and reimagined themselves a microwedding.

As the wedding day arrived, they transformed Katy’s childhood backyard into a wedding courtyard, a suburban street into a reception hall, and a local park into their playground. With their officiant on hand via Zoom, doughnuts aplenty, and shave ice for days, here’s how the microwedding played out . . .

Katy and Bryan, you’ve left a wake of kindness in my life (tapas, doughnuts, and ice cream sandwiches, oh my!). And I can only suspect from the looks on the faces of your wedding guests that they feel the same way. Here’s the cool thing about marriage–not only do you get to enjoy each other for a lifetime, but you get to operate as a dynamic duo, making the world a better place with all you bring to it. If that’s part of the plan, you two are already well on your way!

Welcome to married life and bigtime congratulations to you!
