Lute and Pillage

Cabers, haggis, Irn-Bru, and mushy peas were all within arms’ reach. The piercing drone of bagpipes floated far and wide. And I felt underdressed by not wearing a kilt.

You guessed it; We had traveled many miles to reach our destination … in Woodland, California.

Smartphone Saturday: Not Danny MacAskill

This last day of the week is my day of rest from blogging. Ok, that’s a lie. I blog for about five minutes with my weekly Smartphone Saturday post. The photos are unedited, straight off of my Lumia 1020 smartphone.

Aside from photography, I enjoy quite a few other things. I love family. I love mountain biking. I love … lamp. This photo combines family and mountain biking on a day where my dad and I rented mountain bikes of the glorious Isle of Skye in Scotland. At this spot, we were enjoying the downhill run that comes after a climb, speeding past the sheep that grazed beyond these mossy stone walls. Though we were riding on Skye, nobody would possibly mistake us for Danny MacAskill.

Now do yourself a favor and watch the video of Danny’s ride on the Isle of Skye.

A Master Coach in the Classroom

Saturday morning had arrived. And instead of enjoying my usual doughnut-related pastime, I was shooting my first commercial photography gig.

I found myself at Western Seminary San Jose Campus with adrenaline flowing and a borrowed zoom lens … not to mention an unfortunate stomach bug. My goal? Capture photography of life on campus at this Christian theological school for use in promotional web and print communications.

Taking the Plunge

After five years of dating, Justine and Joel had decided that this was the day to join their lives inseparably. And after one year of photography, this was the day I would shoot my first wedding. *Gulp*.

Several of us were taking the plunge that day.
